Our food system creates more than 20% of the UK’s CO2 emissions. At the same time food injustice means that people often struggle to get the food they need, and communities lack control over how their food is produced and distributed.
JUST FACT - A JUST FOOD AND CLIMATE TRANSITION
Just FACT is a 5 year partnership programme led by Wen with research from Platform London. It is made up of a network of people and projects in Tower Hamlets, and is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund (TNLCF)’s Climate Action Fund.
THE BIG AMBITION
Our overall programme vision is to create an environmentally sustainable and socially just food system in Tower Hamlets.
We want to see a food and land system that gives people the right to healthy, culturally appropriate food produced through socially just and ecologically sound methods.
Although Just FACT is acting on a very local level, our ambition is that we design something that can be used as a model for a just food and climate transition in other urban areas.
what will just fact do?
Just FACT projects are creating and testing new ideas and solutions – from food hubs, community composting, food growing, plastic-free projects, food coops, youth campaigns and more.
