Our vision is a world where women, communities, and the planet flourish because our society is equitable, collaborative, and caring.
Wen’s Organisational Strategy 2025-2030
Wen’s new five year strategy 2025-2030 sets out our ambition to build a world where women*, communities and the planet can flourish. Wen seeks to be a force for change, for intersectional gender, racial and environmental justice.
We will work collaboratively, with partners, organisations and individuals to create alternatives to oppressive systems, to help end the exploitation of women and the natural world. We will support women and communities to take climate action, amplifying racialised and marginalised women’s voices, and will campaign for systemic change.
Building on Wen’s Radical Legacy
For over three decades, Wen has been at the forefront of environmental justice, championing a gender-sensitive and intersectional approach long before it was widely recognised. Our work has consistently centred women’s voices and perspectives, challenging systems that often overlook them.
Our new strategy marks the start of a transformational period for Wen. We will continue to create blueprints and alternatives through our community-based, grassroots projects, empowering and amplifying racialised and marginalised women’s voices. While simultaneously boosting our national campaigns and influence, and applying what we know works through expanded projects. Read our message from Wen’s Co-Directors, Kate Metcalf and Zarina Ahmad
Our key priorities
We want to prove that a different way of doing things is possible. We will do this by focusing on the following priorities:
- Putting gender and intersectional equity at the centre of a green economy and climate policies.
- Informing and enable women to access safe, healthy, toxic-free and sustainable ways of living.
- Nurturing new leaders and amplify the voices of racialised and marginalised women for environmental justice.
- Improving women’s lives through a deeper connection to nature for health.
- Building movements for sustainable, women and community-led systems, with a focus on a just food system.
- Growing a healthy, values-led, participatory organisation
Our Vision for change
Our new strategy will get us closer to achieving our vision of:
A world where women, communities and the planet flourish because our society is equitable, collaborative and caring!

*A note about inclusive language
We have used the word ‘women’ throughout our strategy, but Wen views issues from a gender and intersectional perspective and is inclusive of gender non-binary, trans and gender non-conforming people.
