Menstrual education resources (for teachers, youth workers and parents)

Talking openly about periods is still difficult in many places. Stigma, misinformation and lack of education mean that many people grow up without the knowledge they need to understand their bodies or make informed choices about menstrual products.

As part of the Erasmus+ MENSY menstrual education project, Wen worked with partners across Europe to develop educational resources that support menstrual education and encourage more open conversations about menstruation.

These resources aim to help young people better understand the menstrual cycle, explore sustainable menstrual products and challenge stigma around periods.

Below you can watch the films:

Understanding the menstrual cycle

This short animation introduces the phases of the menstrual cycle and explores how the cycle can be understood through the metaphor of the seasons.

Exploring reusable menstrual products

Reusable menstrual products such as menstrual cups, reusable pads and period pants can help reduce waste and offer more sustainable choices. This animation introduces some of the reusable options available.

Creating a period positive culture

Periods are a natural part of life, yet stigma and silence around menstruation still exist. This film explores how open conversations and education can help build a more period positive culture.

Preparing for a first period

The first period can be exciting but sometimes confusing. This animation offers guidance to help young people understand what to expect and encourages supportive conversations about menstruation.

These films were developed as part of the Erasmus+ MENSY project, a collaboration between organisations across Europe working to improve menstrual education and tackle stigma around periods.
