MENSY – YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL

Mensy

MENSY is a two-year collaborative project, funded by ERASMUS+, aimed at empowering young people and youth leaders to educate young people about menstruation and sustainability.

Period education, including the youth led education promoted by MENSY, will help to tackle menstrual equity, break the stigma surrounding menstruation, and promote sustainable menstrual practices.

By combining environmental, gender, and economic justice, MENSY aims to foster a more equitable and sustainable approach to menstrual health across Europe.

About the Youth Advisory Council

The Youth Advisory Council is an exciting initiative being launched as part of the Mensy project. The Youth Advisory Council will be established in Ireland, Croatia, Spain, UK, Hungary, Portugal, the Netherlands and Ukraine, creating opportunities for young people to make a significant impact.

Why We Are Establishing a Youth Advisory Council

The goal of the Youth Advisory Council is to provide guidance on the development of training resources for youth leaders. These resources will focus on key topics such as:

  • Menstrual health

  • Environmental sustainability

  • Addressing period poverty

The council’s input will ensure that the resources are informed by diverse youth perspectives and address the needs and challenges faced by young people in their communities.

Who Will Be Involved

Each Youth Advisory Council will consist of:

  • 10 participants (minimum 3 youth leaders and 7 young people).

  • Members from diverse backgrounds to ensure a variety of perspectives.

Participants should ideally be sourced through partner organizations involved in the project. This approach will help us engage young people who may not have a primary focus on environmental issues, ensuring inclusivity and diversity in the council.

What Will Be Required

Members of the Youth Advisory Council will:

  1. Attend two in-person meetings:

    • November 2024

    • March 2025

  2. Collaborate with Youth Advisory Councils in other consortium countries to build an international network of youth advisors.

This network will provide opportunities for cross-country learning and collaboration, enhancing the impact of the project across all participating nations.

If you’re passionate about making a difference and want to be part of shaping meaningful resources on menstruation, health, and sustainability, this is your chance to get involved. Contact us for more information on how to join your local Youth Advisory Council.
