Wen is outraged by the recent far-right marches across the UK and the horrific, racially motivated rape of a Sikh woman in Oldbury. These acts are not isolated, they are part of a growing, coordinated campaign of hate that threatens the lives, safety, and dignity of racialised and marginalised communities, including refugees, asylum seekers, and those who have experienced forced migration.
We are witnessing a dangerous escalation of racism, misogyny, Islamophobia, and xenophobia fuelled by silence from political leaders and amplified by inflammatory media narratives.
Wen stands firmly against this violence. As a feminist environmental organisation, we know that the fight for climate justice is inseparable from the fight against racism and patriarchy. The same systems that exploit the planet also exploit people, especially those pushed to the margins. Our work is rooted in care, community, and justice. We will not be silent while hate threatens the very communities we exist to serve.
We call on government leaders, policymakers, and institutions to act, not with platitudes, but with urgency and accountability.
To our Wen community: we know this is a painful and frightening time, especially for women of colour, migrant women, people of colour, trans people, and those who are visibly targeted by systems of hate. We see the fear, the exhaustion, and the resilience. Now more than ever, we must lean into our values of care, connection, and collective action. Reach out. Check in. Speak up. Protect one another. Whether it’s offering a safe space, challenging injustice, or simply standing beside someone who feels unsafe, every act of solidarity is a seed of resistance.
For further guidance on navigating the rise of the far-right, we’ve put together some useful links and resources collated by various organisations in our anti-far right resources hub.
