Sustainable food for London
John Scurr Community Centre and Women’s Environmental Network (WEN) held a joint event to showcase the achievements and success of London food growing projects. Decision makers and community leaders joined the festivities and witnessed first-hand the benefits of locally grown food, with workshops, presentations and a tour of the John Scurr Centre garden project.
New food around the block
Rising food prices and increased interest in healthy food, means more people are looking to grow their own. Growing Round the Houses, a new briefing by Ben Reynolds of Sustain and Christine Haigh of Women’s Environmental Network, explains how social housing providers and their tenants can work together on their estates to grow food.
Support the lads' five hundred mile cycle for WEN
When their last GCSE exam
is over, Lawrence Pearson, Stefan Rastovic, Ruaidhri Sharp and Benedict Wood will be setting off
from Chiswick to cycle across England and along south Wales, crossing from
Fishguard to Rosslare and continuing up the East coast of Ireland to the
village of Baltray, 30 miles north of Dublin. The boys hope to raise at least £1,000 for WEN and get back in shape after all that studying!
