Volunteering

WEN is currently seeking experienced volunteers able to make a regular commitment of at least one day a week for three months or more, to take on the following roles. Volunteers’ travel within London and reasonable lunch expenses can be reimbursed.

As WEN is a women-focused organisation and all staff and volunteers are expected to deal with enquiries from women which may be of a personal or health nature, these volunteer vacancies are open to women only, in accordance with Section 7 (2)(e) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.

  • Network Administration volunteer
    Experienced network administrator required for between two and three days a week to administer the existing IT network, trouble-shooting day-to-day problems and liaise with external providers, and to work with staff and our IT support consultants.

  • Office manager
    Experienced administrator required at least one day a week to help run the WEN office, provide human resources support and assist the co-ordinator and the board of trustees in the smooth running of the organisation. Email comms@wen.org.uk

  • Marketing volunteer
    To promote WEN's activities, services and merchandise to increase membership and income. Would suit a marketing student or a marketing professional looking for experience in the not-for-profit sector. Email comms@wen.org.uk

  • Media and website volunteer
    To generate coverage, respond to enquiries, create web content and monitor media activity. Journalistic/press office experience and good communications skills needed.

  • Nappy project volunteer
    To support the team with web based research, data entry, filing, answering enquiries and general admin. A suitable role for someone returning to work, retired or simply wanting to get out for a day. Email Kay Wagland at nappies2@wen.org.uk or call 020 7481 9004 Mon-Thurs.

  • WEN groups support
    A people person is needed to support our network of WEN groups and contacts across the UK, dealing with enquiries, helping people set up and run groups, putting people in touch with each other and providing information so groups can get involved in WEN campaigns and represent WEN locally.   • Local food Volunteers
    To provide on-going hands-on support to the community food growing projects that the Local Food project works with in the Tower Hamlets area. A suitable role for anyone who enjoys food growing and wants to help support valuable local women's food projects. Email food@wen.org.uk.

Stalls and events
WEN regularly needs volunteers to staff information stalls at summer fairs, environmental/women's festivals and similar events around the country. You should be a member of WEN, committed to our aims and have a general awareness of environmental issues. We can give you supplies of WEN
